It's cool enough to mention about Agile/XP five years ago, knowing the process. But not enough now. People are talking about music and concert.
So where are we heading? At one hand, we try to borrow old experiences from traditional industries such as car manufacture (TPS/Toyota Production System) to solve our problems, so you see the word "lean" getting popular now. On the other hand, it's not cool enough, because we think producing software should be more fancy. Oh, really? Is Windows Vista fancier than the new Camaro?
Recommend two books to start with:
"What to listen for in music" --- A how-to for dummies
"The Rest is Noise" --- Classic music history for 20th
