叽叽 got job first, but it does mean you're so good, so important in your family, maybe your job is not good enough (could be just supporting your family) from WaiWai's point of view. Obviously 叽叽 is supposed to give WeiWei some room and time, to me, he seems ambitious in his career hunting which is good.
