I am not saying those are not working hard enough. But to achieve great success does take years of well planned effort and plus some luck.
To be honest, who desn't want or negotiate as high compensation as possible if asked going back to china. Do you really help save money for our great motherland by asking for lower salary and less allowance. Come on. I guess there will be other critical comments if he is going back to work for some state-owned companies no mattter he will take ridiculously high salary or minimal notional amount (he must go for other all sorts of perks like using company car for free).
Or you can give me a few examples who are considered to be not "滥人" or maybe we should call them "huo lei feng" for the greater goodness of the society.
We alway despise how people are evaluating others while we are actually no different from each other.
We should be happy that his years of hard work paid off or at least he is achieving what he always wants to achieve. Maybe we will feel a little bit depressed or even jealous of other's success. (again, everyone's weakness) No problem, try to make yourself feel happy by staying where you are or by working harder towards where you want to be.

Afterall, we are all the same. Be positive will help you succeed either per your own definition or in others' eyes. Wish his good luck in his new adventure in China and everyone else no matter where you are.
